Wow, can't believe I wrote on her last in October. Where did those months go? Where is this month going, too? Can't believe it's middle of Jan already. Anyway, I made a few writing goals this year. Here they:
1. Not give up submitting sci-fi and fantasy stories. I have found a couple of new markets and will submit to them.
2. Continue branding my ghost stories by new covers to my Geraldine's Gems series.
3. Promote my ghost stories more.
4.Finish my 'Singleton' magical realism series. I have just started writing the last ebook in the series.
5. Keep promoting my children's books in the library.
6.Start putting together a ghost story collection. Once I have finished the Singleton series/
Will report back as I go. How about you? What are your goals this year?

Review of my writing goals
As nearly a quarter of the year has gone already (where did that go?) I thought I'd post a review of how I'm getting on with my goals for this year. So, here we go:
1. Republish Billy. Yes, did that in January. You can find him here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Billy-Sparkling-Socks-Rainbow-School/dp/154264853X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1492950556&sr=1-1&keywords=billy+and+the+sparkling+socks
2. Publish 'Birds Flock Together'. Hope to do this next week once I have finished self-editing Qessa's story.
3. Publish Charlie. Hope to do this in June. The cover is currently been designed by my illustrator.
4. Publish Susie. Want to do this near end of year.
5. Write more womag stories. Am doing that.
6. Get a story accepted by Woman's Weekly. This has now changed. I now want to focus on writing for one womag at a time until I get one story published. Have had 2 rejections from them this year.
7. Get a story accepted by The Weekly News. Same as above. I now want to focus on reading and writing for The People's Friend. They still have one of mine. I am currently working on another, then will change the ending of another to send to them too.
I am also going to try writing sci-fi to expand my areas of writing and targets. Now aim to get a story accepted by TPF and a sci-fi mag by end of year.
8. I am keeping my biz expenses up to date.
So, how are your goals for this year doing so far? Let me know.

A biz goal accomplished
This year, again, I have Leonie Dawson's Life and Biz books to write my goals down for what I want to achieve. One of the pages in the Biz book is about promotion and asks where do you want to be mentioned. One of my answers was ALLi (Alliance of Independent Authors), and I have achieved this twice the last week.
A couple of months ago, I was asked to write a piece for their blog about writing about children with Asperger's by the blog's organiser, Debbie Young. She said that she would put it up when my book went live. The post went up last week and you can read it here http://selfpublishingadvice.org/children-asperger-syndrome-autism-books/
Then a couple of days ago Debbie asked on the FB group for ideas on out-of-the box marketing for our books. I posted about wanting do a library event during National Autism Awareness week. It was picked up and put on a blog post, which you can read here http://selfpublishingadvice.org/book-marketing-in-the-dark-wacky-ideas-that-really-work/
After this, I have realised that my biz is now going to be writing children's book about children with Asperger's, autism and other health issues, and raise awareness of them by doing events at libraries, if I can.
So, that is one of my Biz promo goals accomplished.
How are your biz goals going?

Happy new year - Goals for 2017
Happy new year, everyone. So, I am back posting what my main goals are for this year. They will be more specific this year. Here we go:
1. Republish 'Billy', hopefully on Amazon KDP paperback service now. It appears that Createspace might have it's days numbered now.
2. Publish 'Birds'. Waiting for edits.
3. Publish 'Charlie' and 'Susie'. Need to send second edits to my editor once I get edits for Birds.
4. Write Qessa and Alistair's stories - already started the former.
5. Write more short stories for womags.
6. Get one story accepted by Woman's Weekly.
7. Get one story accepted by The Weekly News.
I would have put get a story accepted by Take a Break's Fiction Feast, but they no longer take stories from new authors. Boo. So, I don't buy that magazine any more.
8 Promote my Asper Fiction more.
9. Read more on the biz side of writing.
10. Keep my biz expenses up to date.
That is it for now. I think they are enough. So, what goals do you have?

Writing goals for 2015 - how I did.
So, 2015 is nearly at an end. Where did that time go? I can remember a few of the goals I set myself to do this year, and here is how I did.
1. Get 5 short stories accepted by women's magazines. Not done yet. I have three out there with two magazines, have completed another and about to finish another.
2. Publish the last in the 'Guardian Angels' series. Tick. I did that earlier this month. Out now on all platforms.
3. Publish the last in the Geraldine's series. Not yet. Plan to do that next year.
4. Publish the last of the mermaid stories. Not done yet either. Again, next year.
5. Become a full member of the RNA. Feel I'm on the way to it as I submitted an ms to the scheme this year, and am working on revising it now. Plan to get it edited next year and send to My Weekly Pocket Novel.
So, what goals did you manage to do this year? And what ones are still to be reached? Let me know.

New goals - the update
Do you remember my goals for this year that I posted in January? Here they are. Here is the update on how I am getting on with them:
1. To complete my YA fantasy series 'The Guardian Angels'. I am working on this one. Started writing this in May on the retreat, continued with it during last week whilst waiting for edits. Will finish it this year.
2. To complete my mermaid trilogy. Not started the last one yet. Don't think I will have time, unless I do this in the afternoon when I've finished my Pocket Novel partial and Billy.
3. To complete my adult romance series 'Geraldine's Gems'. Hope to do this after I've finished last of my Angel ebooks.
4. To write 1 or 2 more of my Singleton village series. Working on edits for this one, as lots of comments from my editor and lots to learn still about pacing.
5. To maybe write another of my Asperkids series. Need to revise part of Billy first. So not this year.
6. To publish my first Asperkids books about Boring Billy. Maybe by end of the year as I want to revise part of it from what I learnt at the retreat in May.
7. To get at least 5 short stories accepted and published by women's magazines. Work in progress. lol. Have had rejections so far. One out with Woman's Weekly and working on another for Yours. I have found a blog esp for womag writers who give feedback to your stories, so have been using that for help.
8. To earn at least £500 from no 7. Not sure if I will get there by end of year. Another work in progress.
9. To break even with my writing expenses this year. I've been working at a loss the last few years. Getting there. Half way there but only thanks to my new business, my 1-2-1 author service.
10. The main one I feel is... to graduate from the RNA's New Writer's Scheme, hopefully with a Pocket Novel script. Working on this now. Am rewriting a script that I submitted a few years ago and did nothing with. This is a slow work in progress as I only work on it when I have time late afternoon. Decided that I won't have time to do all of it by end of August, so have been working on the first three chapters and will rewrite the synopsis for it, and send the rest of the ms as a draft.
My other goal, which was new, instead of writing Pocket Novels, is to work on my author service. That is going really well and I have four clients so far, one of whom is v appreciative of my help to him.
So, how are you goals going? Will post again at the end of November with my progress.

Another goal for this year and an update on current ones
I have decided to have another goal for this year, but will give you an update on my current ones.
1. Still getting there with my 7+ children's book. Decided to change a scene and put in one that goes with the rest of the book.
2. Still getting there with my next Angel ebook, and should finish current draft by next goal-setting brunch end of this month.
3. Bird articles - have found a few children's magazines in the US that I can submit to. Have one already to post next week. I have decided to expand my freelance writing and write about famous people with disabilities and submit to those magazines, too, and write about places in London as travel pieces. We shall see how it goes.
Now for my new goal. I was going to stay as an indie author, but after a friend of mine recently got her first book published by a publisher and going to the RNA workshop last weekend, I have now decided to be a hybrid author. I want to try and get published in adult romance with either a trad publisher (not one of the big 6) but a smaller one or a digital publisher like my friend. When I have finished Charlie, the 7+ book, I will then work on a story to send to Woman's Weekly, then I will start rewriting a novel I sent to the NWS a few years ago and make it more romantic, concentrating on the relationship between the girl and boy. I shall either send it to the NWS or straight to a publisher, depending on when I finish it as the NWS closes end of August. I still have lots of indie projects to work on. The rest of the Angel series, the last 2 Geraldine stories, 2 more mermaid stories, and the rest of the Secrets of Singleton village short stories, which should take me into next year.
So, there you have it. My goals and how they are doing, and my new one to work towards. How are you getting on?
If you want help with goal-setting and keeping them, I now have a template for goal-setting, much like the SCBWI Brunch one I get. Let me know if you want one in the comments below, and I can email it to you.

Writing goals for 2014 - an update
Last month I wrote about what I wanted to do in writing this year. Thought I'd give you an update on how it is going for me.
1. I said that I wanted to try to write poetry. I have so far written 1 1/2 poems about having Asperger's. I want to attempt to do more to make a whole book, which I might try to get published or self-publish.
2. I was going to pitch to US magazines about birds. I have queried one magazine and wait to hear from them. Have pitched another but got rejected as they have too many mss to put in their small magazine. I have found another magazine and will read their guidelines and pitch to them.
3. Want to get my 7+ children's books published. Waiting to hear from publisher. He has started to read my ms and working out how to turn it into a graphic novel.
4. My goals for this month were to finish current drafts of my 7+ book and my next Angel ebook. Getting there with the first - on the last chapters. Half way there with Angel ebook. Hope to finish both by end of the month or at least the next goal setting brunch in March.
So, how are your writing goals going? Let me know in the comments below. Also, would anyone of be interested in a free 'goal-setting' sheet to work on so you don't stray from your goals? Let me know below as I am planning to do one for my internet marketing blog followers who like my posts about planning and goals.

My new year goals as an Aspie
I have already posted about my writing goals, now I am going to tell you the goals I have made for being an Aspie (a couple of them have not lasted already!).
1. Don't get frustrated with my mum when she is doing things for both of us eg using the TV remote control - not lasted.
2. Don't interrupt her when she speaks so I hear the full sentence and don't get it wrong - not lasted, either.
3. Try not to speak too abruptly that often - not done yet.
4. Try to be more understanding of Mum's health problems, too - trying.
5. Help more around the house - have been doing so.
So, are you an Aspie? Have you made new year goals or resolutions this year in regards to your Asperger's? If you have, let me know.

Writing goals for 2014
So, all you writers and illustrators out there, have you made your new year goals yet? I have, and here they are. There might be a few more to come later in the year.
1. Finish writing and publishing both my YA 'Guardian Angel' series and adult romance series 'Geraldine's Gems.' Have edits to work on the penultimate Angel ebook, and two more romance ones to write after I've published the current wip in the new year.
2. Try writing poetry. I have an idea for a book of poems. We shall see. If I manage it, it will be my life with Asperger's in poetry.
3. Enter more stories for magazines/competitions.
4. Write more non-fiction, and submit to magazines both in UK and overseas, inc competitions. I have one competition in mind already, and got the Writers' Market book from my brother for Xmas with US magazine markets in.
5. Get a publisher for my 7+ children's books. Waiting to hear from a publisher at the moment. Wait and see if he likes my work enough to want to publish it as a graphic novel.
So, there you have my new year goals. What are your goals? Let me know.
